I must tell you that I rarely write about anything political and I usually tend to be a turtle when things get ugly. I am not a Republican and I am not a Democrat. I tend to declare myself as an Independent because I don't think you should ever vote for something based on a word. It's like finding an answer to prayer. You have to STUDY every aspect of the thing and then make your decision and take it to God. I did not vote for Senator Obama for president, but I must say that I feel OK with the results of the election. I have many friends and some family who feel very angry/sad/scared about what we witnessed last night. I feel peaceful about it. I am not one to think that he is going to lead us to doom and gloom. You may disagree with me and I respect your opinion.
I think what our country needs right now is unity. I feel we can find it and we DO need to try. We need to give President-elect Obama a chance. There it is and that's how I feel. God Bless America!
I also voted "yes" on Prop. 8. Ameri and I have many dear friends who are gay. We love them and we respect them. Many people view a "yes" vote as racist or intolerant. I do not feel that way. I am a religious person and I feel strongly about God's Law. I would hope that many would respect my beliefs. I am not a bigot, I am not racist. I have to be on God's side and I believe that God defines marriage as being between a man and a woman. That is my belief.
That is all I am going to write about politics.

AMEN and DITTO! to every last word of it.
P.S. Except that I didn't vote vote for Obama or McCain...a ridiculous story for another day :)
Yeah for Independents. I did vote for Obama and I voted for prop 8 - the two things are not exclusive. The important thing to remember is that one vote and one election does not a country make. We have to be involved and concerned all the time, not just every two or four years. But I have hope! And we have the gospel which is the gospel of peace.
I stumbled upon your blog this afternoon and find your attitude so refreshing and reassuring. I only hope that there are more people out there who see things the way you do.I voted for Obama and 8. The comment that they are not exclusive is so true. Thank you
Well said... on everything.
