I'm back!
Somehow, somewhere I got some weird virus that wouldn't let me connect to anything google (i.e. blogspot, gmail, or google). It started with another virus called "Windows Protection Suite". BEWARE that one. It looks like legit spyware that's there to save the day, but it really just locks down your computer . . .
Anyway, after much pain and suffering by my husband, myself and my bro-in-law Ben, we have our computer back. Somewhat. The boys had to back-up everything of importance (All of my catalogued pictures! Financials, calendar, etc.) - which took hours - and then they wiped the slate clean so to speak. There are still a few kinks to work out and some software that we have to buy again (Quicken - don't quite know how we lost it, but at least my HOURS of work was backed up on the external hard-drive!), but overall we're back in business.
Thanks to Ameri and Ben for all of their hard-work, thanks to Katie for coming up and saving me from losing it, thanks to our children for being somewhat well-behaved, thanks to my old client Lorna who told us months ago to get an external hard-drive, and thanks to me for listening to her and well, other stuff.
The moral of the story? Back up your computers people. External hard-drives are a necessity not a luxury. Do it. Do it now. Amen.

I might also suggest using an online backup solution like Mozy (http://mozy.com/home). It is what I use at home for windows machines. It has the added benefits of keeping track of versions and being fire and theft proof.
Oh, now I'm stressed. I shoulda asked for one of those for my anniversary. :)
